Richard Diebenkorn, Interior with View of the Ocean, 1957
Diggin some Richard Diebenkorn art tonight. I love his use of color and his application of paint. Sometimes I go way outside the genre that I usually look at and admire these guys- he and Wayne Theibaud. So what? I dig abstract expressionism A LOT.

Another favorite painter of mine is Richard Diebenkorn, associated with abstract expressionism and the Bay area Figurative Movement. There is something about his choice of color palette that places you in Northern California, even when looking at his most abstracted works. I am fascinated by his more abstracted works, the balance or color and lines but I think I prefer his works that are between figurative and abstraction. The forms are recognizable but his play with flattening bands or color is what I find most interesting.
